Update on Mike

This is Mike’s son Rob: Mike had a fall at his home on Thursday, February 15th. He badly dislocated his left shoulder and did nerve damage to the left arm. He also shattered his right humerus bone and broke his T6 vertebrae. His upper arm now has a steel rod as the bone, with the shattered bone growing back around it. He spent a week in hospital where his shoulder was set and his broken arm was operated on. He was then transferred to a rehab facility where he stayed for 5 more weeks, and where he underwent extensive occupational and physical therapy to regain the use of his arms, and to regain leg strength due to being immobile in bed for a couple of weeks.

Mike came home two weeks ago. He is continuing his physical and occupational therapy regimen at home. At home, he has the love and support of his partner Mary Pat, and I help as often as I am able. Mike has come a long way, but he is still in very rough shape. It will be several months, at least, before he is back to normal. But he is working hard at it. Mike appreciates all the well wishes he has received. He wishes he could respond to each of you, but working on the computer is still very difficult him.
